Audyssey Music Player Now Integrates with Spotify

Spotify Premium Users Can Enjoy a Studio-reference Listening Experience with Audyssey Technology

Los Angeles, CA – March 19, 2015 – Audyssey, the leading innovator in audio solutions for the consumer electronics market, today announced that its Audyssey Music Player now integrates with the Spotify music-streaming service. This is an important development for mobile audio, as it brings some of the industry’s most advanced audio technologies to one of the most widely used music-streaming services. Audyssey technology is able to offer high-quality sound without increasing data usage or the need for increased processing power to support the higher bandwidth required for traditional methods of reproducing high-quality sound.

Audyssey Music Player is built on Audyssey’s proprietary audio technology – ExpertFit™ – a patented measurement technology that individually calibrates playback devices to account for variations in acoustical characteristics and human perception. Audyssey ExpertFit, now used to improve the audio performance on more than 85 manufacturers’ mobile audio products, compensates for these factors and elevates the playback device to studio-reference sound.

“We have developed audio and human perception technologies that allow all listeners to experience music as it was created in the studio, from your current speaker or headphone,” said Chris Kyriakakis, Audyssey’s founder and CTO. “Our integration with Spotify lets our users listen to millions of songs as they were intended to be heard – all from one app and over hundreds of headphones and Bluetooth speakers.”

Audyssey Music Player is the only music player that optimizes audio content uniquely for each pair of headphones or portable Bluetooth speaker, model by model. The app uses expertly tailored tuning profiles to deliver studio-reference sound quality matched to the listener’s specific accessory. This enables richer tones, greater clarity and deeper bass for a much more enjoyable listening experience. The technology behind Audyssey Music Player can also be integrated into mobile apps, streaming music services, games, in-device media players and in the firmware of the mobile device itself.

Integration with Spotify makes available a near-limitless universe of content, as Audyssey Music Player users can now listen to millions of songs available on Spotify, with reference-quality sound tailored to their specific accessory. Audyssey boasts the world’s largest cloud-based collection of headphone and Bluetooth speaker profiles – the database currently includes more than 325 models, with new models added on a regular basis.

iOS users can download Audyssey Music Player free of charge at the App Store. The app offers a 30-minute free trial period for each profile so the listener can appreciate the vast sound improvement they will enjoy. Users can then purchase headphone profiles for $1.99 each and Bluetooth speaker profiles for $2.99 apiece to enable audiophile-quality, 32-bit audio processing and unique sound customization capabilities. Once the device profile is purchased, users experience studio-reference sound quality when playing music from their local iTunes library or streaming music via Spotify.

App developers, mobile device manufacturers and OEMs interested in licensing Audyssey’s technologies are encouraged to contact the company at dms_sales@audyssey.com for further details.
