UPDATE: In regards to the overheating and burning smell I mention in the video or blog post I was told that there is a faint smell of the rubberized coating and that smell will fade pretty quickly. They also told me they had an extremely small subset of faulty units from their very first batch, but definitely no “explosions”. Everything being sold today is fully UL certified and safe. So these problems are very minor and should go away within time.
Today I am going to review a PowerBank from a company called FluxMOB which is a company that was made possible thanks to the 1,790 worldwide backers that believed in their vision. After launching their 30 day Kickstarter campaign aimed to raise $44k, they quickly raised their initial goal in less than 10 days and ended up finishing the campaign being 205% funded at $90,253. the powerbank costs about $59.99 with free shipping on Amazon so that’s all you will pay. So not bad for the price but how does it perform? That’s what this review intends to show you, so read on….
Info:
Product Name: FLUXMOB BOLT 3000mAh Battery Backup and Wall Charger
Provider: FluxMOB
The Review:
The packaging, is a hard plastic shell which is sorta easy to open the bottom slides out but then you have to tear the cardboard we have a expect here at NH Tech who knows how to remove products from tough packing (it’s not me haha) There’s no wires just an instruction booklet which let’s you know everything you need to know how to use the FLUXMOB BOLT there’s also info for retail purposes like features and specifications of the FLUXMOB BOLT 3000mAh Battery Backup and Wall Charger
The powerbank does have a few identifying marks on it which is the FLUXMOB logo on the side as well as the front where the word BOLT is located this power bank has 5 dots 4 of them are used to tell how much battery juice is in the power bank the other shows that you are charging the power bank one thing to point out is when you are charging the power bank STAY WITH IT! I’ve seen a few social media posts where there power bank has exploded so I was careful when I did charge it I noticed it does get warm when it gets about half charged to the point you can smell plastic burning each time I just pulled it out of the wall waited 3 mins and kept charging the problem is (and I noticed other reviewers had this problem it’s very hard to get it FULLY charged all 4 lights hopefully if FLUXMOB comes out with a 2.0 these problems will be fixed as for how powerful this charger is I would say this is more meant for emergency power only not a EVERYDAY charger but still it’s great if you have downloaded a bunch of movies and need a bit of extra juice on your phone to watch on the plane This battery indeed lives up to the fresh design FLUXMOB has in mind when they created this product in my opinion…
Conclusion:
So yes the charger is expensive for some budgets but is it even worth it? I would say totally! If you want a simple design and will be traveling and want some extra juice while cruising through the shops or convention floor
So in all it’s not bad for power bank designed for the traveler to give you a bit extra juice so you can check that email or make a phone call
The final score averages out to be a 8 out of 10, but that takes into account everything, but as you can see below it the pros out do the cons by a long shot.
| PROS | CONS |
| + Priced well +Made and Designed with care +Lights up letting you know power is going to powerbank or if it’s being charged |
-Got warm while charging and smelled wires burning but I removed it from the wall waited 3 minutes and plugged it back in |
